We take the safety of our patients and our staff very seriously. From the moment you enter you can see signs of us taking precautions to protect all patrons. We regularly clean the lobby area, the door handles, countertops and light switches. Common areas and bathrooms are cleaned daily.

In the treatment area, we use HEPA air Purifiers in each operatory. All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned between each patient. All instruments are sterilized.

The Bluetooth headphones and pillows are covered with disposable coverings. And blankets and other tools we use to keep you comfortable are washed between each patient.

We also keep ourselves informed of the latest CDC and ADA guidelines. We are here to care for your oral health in a comfortable and clean environment.

Dr. Saba Heday has worked in her hometown for the past ten years, seeing patients of all ages and all walks of life. Meeting different people and helping them is one of the reasons she wanted to be a dentist since she was a child.

After she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in engineering, she pursued dentistry to fulfill her lifelong dream. Now, Dr. Heday spends her days treating patients from the Desert Foothills community and giving them a reason to keep smiling.

Dr. Saba Heday is a highly accomplished dentist, engineer, and scholar from Arizona. At the age of 16, Dr. Heday earned her GED and immediately began college. She earned her BS in Electrical Engineering with honors from Arizona State University and her MS in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University where she studied Immune Response In Silico (IRIS).

Doctor of Dental Surgery

She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), one of the top dental schools in the nation. UCSF is also a national leader in research and preventive dentistry, and Dr. Heday excelled in her studies during her doctoral program. During her doctoral program, her research focused on bonding and laser-treated teeth.

General Practice Residency

Dr. Heday completed the General Practice Residency at the San Diego VA Hospital, which gave her the opportunity to treat complicated dental issues for veteran patients. During this time, Dr. Heday discovered a deeper appreciation for our nation’s veterans and active service members. She considers it a great honor to have had the opportunity to treat veterans during her residency, and she looks forward to helping more patients of all ages and backgrounds have healthier, brighter smiles.

Expanding Education and Artistic Skill in Dentistry

With a highly motivated, skilled, and knowledgeable dentist like Dr. Heday, you can be certain you will receive the best dental care available. Dr. Heday loves her patients, and she is dedicated to practicing and perfecting the science and art of dentistry. In her spare time, Dr. Heday seeks new opportunities to deepen her knowledge and skills in the dental field, so she can continue to grow as a family dentist in Scottsdale, AZ.

Sedation Dentistry

Over the years, Dr. Heday has developed specific techniques to help minimize any discomfort you might experience. Her gentle touch and practice methods are what people admire and remember most. She also uses leading-edge dental technology to improve treatment outcomes, enhance patient comfort, and reduce recovery times.

For some procedures, Dr. Heday also uses local anesthetics to numb the area in the mouth where she’s working, so patients don’t experience pain or discomfort.

No Two Patients Are Alike

Every patient is different, so no two treatments are the same. We do not practice one-size-fits-all dentistry, and we customize each service to meet your specific needs.

If you have dental anxiety and need extra help relaxing, oral sedation or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) may be viable options. We also offer weighted blankets, neck pillows, and Bluetooth Bose headphones.

Before your treatment, Dr. Heday will determine if oral sedation or laughing gas will work for you.

Our Sedation Dentistry Options in North Scottsdale

Oral sedation is used for pain control and anxiety relief, and dentists often prescribe it before a specific type of treatment.

Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative. It’s inhaled through a nasal tube or soft mask, and the gas takes effect within a couple of minutes of breathing it in. Most patients feel dreamy and relaxed while using nitrous oxide, and the effects wear off within minutes of discontinuing use.

Both oral sedation and nitrous oxide are examples of conscious sedation. This means patients are awake and can still communicate with the dentist if needed. However, many patients seem to simply enjoy the calming sensation sedation gives them, and they become comfortable and cooperative.

Family Dentistry

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that regularly scheduled dental cleanings and examinations are essential for optimal oral health, as determined by your dentist. Every patient is different, so every patient requires customized treatment to address their dental health. Many patients visit us for dental exams and cleanings every six months.

What to Expect at Your Dental Checkup in North Scottsdale

Improving your smile with cosmetic dentistry isn’t just about aesthetic enhancement. It’s about knowing your smile looks great and the confidence and feelings of well-being it can produce.

Cosmetic Dentistry Benefits

Improved Oral Health

Aesthetic treatments like composite bonding and dental crowns enhance oral health by strengthening weakened teeth and preventing further damage. Straightening misaligned teeth with Invisalign can improve bite function, reduce dental wear, and minimize TMJ-related pain and headaches. Additionally, replacing missing teeth helps maintain proper spacing and prevents neighboring teeth from shifting.

Enhanced Confidence and Interactions

Many patients describe increased self-confidence in professional and social interactions after cosmetic dental procedures. When you know your smile looks great, you’ll likely find yourself smiling more, which also contributes to reduced stress levels and improved mood.

Veneers

Veneers are one of the most popular ways to transform a smile, but are they considered permanent? Can they ever be reversed?

Here’s the honest answer: veneers are a permanent treatment. Once you decide to get them, your natural teeth are altered in a way that makes it necessary to always have veneers or another form of coverage moving forward.

Here’s why: during the veneer process, your dentist carefully removes a thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth to make room for the porcelain shells. This allows the veneers to fit naturally and blend seamlessly with your smile. However, because enamel doesn’t grow back, the change is permanent. Without a veneer or another restoration, the exposed tooth would be vulnerable to damage and sensitivity.

That being said, veneers themselves aren’t “forever” in the sense that they might eventually need replacement. With good care, porcelain veneers can last 10–15 years or longer. Over time, they might need to be replaced due to normal wear or changes in your mouth.

Choosing to get veneers is a big decision, but for many people, it’s one that pays off in incredible confidence and life-changing smile improvements. If you’re considering veneers, it’s important to have an in-depth consultation with your dentist to make sure it’s the right move for you.

When done well, veneers offer a beautiful, natural-looking smile that you’ll love every single day!

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening treatments can effectively deliver a bright, confidence-boosting smile. However, the safety of your gums and tooth enamel should always be a priority when starting any whitening treatment.

Ensuring Safe Teeth Whitening

With so many teeth whitening options available, choosing and safely administering the right method makes all the difference. But that’s not the only factor to consider:

  • Start with good oral hygiene — Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily to remove surface stains, food particles, and plaque. For an added boost, try an ADA-approved whitening toothpaste.
  • Trust the professionals — In-office whitening treatments from your dentist are the safest and most effective option. These treatments use high-quality products, controlled methods, and professional oversight to safely and effectively brighten your smile.
  • At-home, proceed with care —  Over-the-counter whitening products, like strips or trays, can yield solid results but must be used with care to ensure even whitening and avoid sensitivity or weakened enamel.
  • Take measures to maintain your results — To maximize your whitening results, avoid staining foods and drinks like coffee, tea, and red wine, and don’t smoke. Also, drink water regularly and schedule regular cleanings to keep your teeth looking their best.

If you’re considering whitening, consult your dentist first to determine the safest approach for your smile.

Safe and Effective Teeth Whitening in Scottsdale, AZ

If you’re in Scottsdale and want to learn more about your myriad teeth whitening options and select the one best suited for you, contact Dr. Saba Heday and the excellent Dynamite Smiles Dentistry team to schedule a consultation!

Teeth whitening can give you a dazzling smile, but how long will that fresh, bright look actually stick around? The answer depends on a few factors and a little bit on you!

Professional teeth whitening results can last anywhere from six months to two years. If you're diligent about your oral care and mindful of what you eat and drink, your whiter smile could last longer. But you might notice the brightness fading sooner if you're a big fan of coffee, tea, red wine, or other staining foods.

How to Keep Your Smile White

Daily habits make a huge difference. Brushing twice daily, flossing daily, and whitening toothpaste (approved by your dentist) can help maintain your results. Regular professional cleanings at your dental office also help remove surface stains and keep your smile looking fresh.

Lifestyle choices also matter. Smokers, for example, often see whitening results fade faster because of the tar and nicotine stains.

Touch-Up Whitening and Pro Whitening in Scottsdale, AZ

Touch-up treatments are easy and can extend the life of your whitening results. Many people do a touch-up once or twice a year, often before significant events like weddings, vacations, or family photos.

If you're looking for long-lasting brightness, talk to your dentist about the best teeth whitening options and lifestyle options. A customized plan could help you enjoy that brilliant smile for years!

Invisalign

Invisalign is considered to be one of the most innovative orthodontic systems available, and Dynamite Smiles Dentistry is proud to offer Invisalign at our Scottsdale dental office. Invisalign uses clear aligners to gradually move teeth into position so you can enjoy an aligned, symmetrical bite.

Invisalign in North Scottsdale

Invisalign has several advantages over traditional metal braces:

  • Because Invisalign is made from BPA-free plastic, they are virtually invisible.
  • Invisalign is customized to fit your unique bite, making them comfortable to wear.
  • You can remove Invisalign aligners to thoroughly clean them and for oral hygiene.
  • Invisalign is metal-free, so you don't have to worry about wires or brackets detracting from your smile.
  • Invisalign doesn't require as many dental appointments because your dentist doesn't need to tighten wires or make as many adjustments.
  • You can remove your Invisalign clear aligners to enjoy your favorite meals with no dietary restrictions as you would with traditional braces.

Invisalign aligners have helped numerous teenagers and adults attain straighter teeth, and they may be able to help you too. If you want to learn if you are a good candidate for Invisalign, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Heday.

We look forward to helping you make your dream smile a stunning reality!

TMJ Disorders and Bruxism

Chronic tooth grinding, or bruxism, can cause headaches, jaw pain, and damage to your teeth if left unchecked. While it most commonly happens during sleep, there are ways to manage and prevent it to protect your oral health and quality of life.

Focusing on stress management, relaxation, daily habits, and dental care can make a big difference. Here are a few simple tips to help prevent tooth grinding:

  • Address your stress — Stress is a leading cause of tooth grinding. Manage it by practicing relaxation techniques during the day and before bed — like deep breathing, yoga, or meditation.
  • Wear a nightguard — A custom dental nightguard protects your teeth while you sleep.
  • Check your posture — Proper posture while sitting at your desk can help relax your jaw and avoid clenching.
  • Massage your jaw muscles — Gentle massaging your jaw muscles can relieve tightness and reduce nighttime grinding.

If you suspect you’re grinding your teeth, talk to your dentist. They can accurately diagnose your condition, identify potential causes, and offer appropriate solutions. Addressing bruxism early can help you prevent long-term damage and enjoy a pain-free, healthier smile.

Handling a Knocked-Out Tooth

When your tooth gets knocked out, acting quickly is extremely important. The sooner we see you in our dental office, the better chance we have of saving your tooth. Here’s what you should do in the meantime:

  • Try to stay calm and locate your tooth.
  • Hold your tooth by the crown, not the root, and gently rinse it with milk.
  • Attempt to place your tooth back in its socket and then hold it in place with a tissue or a piece of gauze.
  • If you can’t put your tooth back in its socket, store it in a glass of milk or inside your cheek.
  • Call our dental office immediately; if we can see you within one hour, we have the best chance of saving your tooth.

Steps for Handling a Dental Emergency

Place the tooth back in the socket if possible; otherwise, store it in milk or saliva. Time is critical—seek treatment within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth.
  • Severe Pain or Swelling — Apply a cold compress to the affected area for 15 minutes at a time. Take over-the-counter pain medication as directed. Document when the pain began and any triggering factors.
  • Cracked or Broken Tooth — Rinse your mouth with warm water to remove bacteria and food debris. Apply a cold compress to minimize swelling. Gather any broken pieces and bring them with you to your appointment. Avoid chewing on the affected side.
  • Bleeding Gums or Soft Tissue — Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze for 15-20 minutes. If bleeding persists after sustained pressure, seek immediate care.
